The city of London did their best to kill off any business in the village of Hyde Park with never ending road closures and construction a bunch of years back. Your map above placing Hyde Park south of Whitehills when it actually use to go from about the corner of Hyde Park Road and Gainsborough west to the London/Lobo township line (Vanneck Rd).

Ever wonder who "Basil Grover Park" atop Winery Hill at the southwest corner of Commissioners Road West and Wharncliffe Road South was named after?
Basil William George Grover, OBE (1911-1956)
www.canadiansoldiers.com, 29 Oct 2004
Basil William George Grover went overseas with 1st Canadian Divisional Signals in December 1939; after a period as a company officer he was appointed adjutant, and in January 1941 became Assistant Chief Signals Officer for I Canadian Corps. In April 1942 he was appointed C.1 Signals, First Canadian Army. The citation for his OBE, awarded in June 1943, reads: "Lieutenant Colonel Grover possesses outstanding organizing and directive ability. Perhaps more than any other officer in Riyal Canadian Signals he has been responsible for the successful expansion of Canadian signals from the small organization of a divisional signals to the present communication service of the army. He has given long hours of tedious and arduous work without showing the least sign of fatigue or loss of keenness. All commanding officers and all staff officers with whom he woks express their confidence in him and value his advice. It is true to say that he has made an outstanding contribution to the work of his Corps and the Canadian Army as a whole. After being made Officer of the Order of the British Empire, he was appointed Commander of 1 Canadian Infantry Division Signals, where he remained for the rest of the war. He received a Mentioned in Despatches in October 1945."
A park atop Winery Hill near Communications Road and the TV tower is perfect to name after Basil Grover since Commander Grover was a signal corps (communications) soldier.

Horrible school run by horrible corrupt teachers. A.B. Lucas was a blessing. I am still getting counselling years later for what happened at this bad place. Parents -- do yourself a favor and send your kids to catholic school! St Marks is right around the corner and it's acceptable.

The map is incorrect. Manor Park is situated wholly south of Tecumseh Avenue. North of Tecumseh Avenue on the map shown, is Highland Park. Hence the name Manor and Highland Park Public School on the former school building.

two hours gone-I have contacted all three Walmart stores in London looking for a Summer
Escapes 10 ft. steel frame swimming pool (99.97). I have been on hold repeatedly at the Wellington Rd. and Fanshawe Park road--at Fanshawe store someone went to check the stock and never returned. At one point I was connected with the photography section. Deb, the supervisor of toy section at the Clarke Road store told me I could not order the pool because "those decisions were made by head office". I will contact head office now but I have a feeling that ordering a small swimming pool
is not on their corporate to do list. Can anyone help me with this....Maureen Riley, London, Ontario, 519 457-8414 mriley@rogers.com
